Selling on eBay: Introducing Ten Free Tips For Your Success
If you are to sell anything at all on eBay then you need to familiarise yourself with a few key points in order to make that sale. This article is packed with information which will guide you effortlessly through the process. It is designed to be of assistance to a complete 'newbie' and also the more serious eBayer. If you want to be successful either as a private seller or in your eBay business then read on.
* The first step is to register with eBay by going to their homepage which can be found by typing in eBay into your search engine and then choosing which eBay country site is appropriate for you. The registration process is fairly straight forward and is done by following the links from the homepage. Once you are registered you may create a sellers account, simply done again, just click on the sell link at the top of any eBay page.
* If you began by selling articles which were no longer used at home, which is a great way to start, you may now wish to move on to selling on a regular basis. You will find that selling items which are related to your hobbies and interests will motivate you into making a great part or even full time home business from eBay.
* Consider selling items in a particular niche or group which attract people with a specific interest in your products who are often prepared to pay good money for them.
* The way to beat the competition is to research your market beforehand. This task is made very easy using eBay itself. You can see at a glance how well items similar to yours are selling and for how much as well as looking at the descriptions people are using. Just click on the advanced search button (top right of page) then fill in the details of your search, ticking the completed listings box. Click on search at the bottom of the page and all you need to know is before your eyes. The items which have sold show the selling price in green.
* Think carefully about which words you use in your listing title. You need to use key words which you would expect people to use when they are searching for an item such as yours. For example: 'Lovely dress I bought just 2 weeks ago' contains probably only one word which people might use to find what they are looking for. Much better is: 'New Nicholas Millington designer dress size 10'.
* Most items will benefit immensely from having a picture alongside the title, which is known as a gallery picture. This is currently free so take advantage of this. Always take a photograph in a well lit room or if you are photographing outside, on a bright day. Attempt to get the best photo you can, so take several until you are happy with the results.
* Your listing should be accurate and honest. You may well wish to sell many more times on eBay and there is no surer way to derail your ambitions than an incomplete listing which doesn't tell the full story. Apart from avoiding negative feedback from the buyer, you will actually enhance your reputation if the item arrives exactly as described. So if it's got a hole in it, SAY SO!!
* Choose between auctions or Buy It Now when selling. The buy it now price will give you a certain peace of mind because you know the item isn't going to go for less than you paid for it. However, with an auction the price can go beyond that which you were happy to accept as buy it now because very often a bidding war can begin for your item, with several people determined to get there hands on it.
* You can choose to be paid using PayPal, by cheque, by postal order or bankers' draft. It is important that you determine that funds have been released to you before sending out the item. Unfortunately a tiny minority of people will be reluctant to send you the money if the item is already in their possession.
* You may buy all the packaging supplies you need cheaply off eBay but first look around your home to see if you have any suitable materials. Pack things well to prevent damage and always include a message of thanks.
