The summer season is a nice time for women to show off their sense of fashion when it comes to their wardrobe. It is a time where shorts, skirts, caprice, tanks and halter tops come out to play. When it comes to choosing short dresses, one rule of thumb is to go no shorter than the fingertips when the young lady is standing up with her hands resting at her side. It is really up to each individual and their comfort level. Don't get caught in a situation in public where thoughts of being worried and uncomfortable interfere with the occasion. It is not recommended when wearing a short dress. A good rule of thumb to follow if there is hesitation is to place the arms down the sides and note where the fingertips land. That will give a good idea as to what an appropriate length would be.
Short Dresses can be worn to many different occasions. Many women pair a cotton summer dress with a pair of flip-flops for an everyday look. For a bit of a more dramatic effect, pair a wedge sandal with any short cotton dress to take it from an everyday look to more of a casual look for outings. Short dresses are a comfortable idea for parties or a night in the city. Whether it is sequined, silk, beaded or ruffled; pair them with high-heeled pumps or stilettos for a flawless look.
What about fall and winter looks? Are short dresses acceptable for harsher seasons? The answer is yes, but a few modifications are needed to pull off the look. Such accessories include tights, leggings and tall boots. Obviously, cotton short dresses are not to be worn in the middle of the winter season, but sweater dresses or any outfits that are made with heavier fabric are options to be worn in such seasons. Paired with high-heeled boots or pumps with leggings give off a casual look that can be worn in the daytime and transformed into evening wear with a few changes made to the accessories worn. For a dressier look, opaque tights can be worn. These are a bit thicker then the nylon pantyhose and will give some warmth.
